Zen Furniture On A Budget

Letter to members and friends of the circle of re-founding Barona

Hello,
I write because I believe it is appropriate and proper to let you know of my choices and reasons for them. Today I leave
Refoundation Communist and of course the role of Secretary of the Club Barona Lenin, after many years of activism and affiliation with a difficulty I know you understand.

PRC and the club have been for me a house, almost a family, a safe community, where I spent most of my energies and my strength, sharing a project, as well as the ideas and struggles.
Today, what was my home has changed. E 'changed so much to be no longer in my eyes, recognizable. E 'changed the political project, but especially the climate has changed and is changing the language it uses.

The heavy election defeat last April, we talked about it often, could be the ash from which to reconstruct a major project, to change our society, overcoming the divisions, misunderstandings, the identity that we were relegated to the margins of culture and the imagination of people. Among other things, a defeat which has its roots away from that April, comes from a long historical process that saw the defeat of communism as a milestone.

Also, what has happened in recent months, and I'm referring to the battles of the CGIL, but especially the impetuous wave motion, students, but also to the recent demonstrations against the eviction of Conchetta, we have talked about a great "pool" of people who share the need to change this country. So many men and women who crowded the streets and who have always strongly and radicalism, refused to be placed in this part of the left.

I think we need to think in terms other than in the past: the traditional party forms are no longer credible, effective and relevant to the world that lives outside of them. But especially in close and precise references to identity and cultural patterns of the past is a fence too high to be overcome for the vast majority.
Refoundation Communist, in this sense, come a long way back: in recent months has perched on the identity of the party, has, meanwhile, increased its reference to the traditional party, with its headquarters and its logical vertical legitimate but, from my point of view, past history. In terms of content has dropped, as often pointed out by its top executives, some battles I thought were central: the rights of those people and the centrality of freedom, to make way for a campaign on the high cost of living from objectionable content and a dall'approccio some 'populist.
I believe strongly that focuses on the issue of class conflict before the rights issue is a retreat and a mistake in a society fluid and changing as the current one.

The reality speaks to us loud and clear: the economic crisis is much deeper than that which passes through the press and media figures retouched, invests the social fabric, undermine the balance of power in which we are accustomed. In the crisis, homeowners and affluent, are getting stronger.
the hardest hit, as always, especially the weak. At the same time an air of change, though with obvious limitations, also comes "from the heart of the empire": Obama and his victory made a gesture of possible changes in the world. In Italy, however, that momentum is growing and the populist right-wing culture that generates an exclusion approval. Racism, homophobia, show society, poverty, violence, are increasingly involved in our country. And Milan is no different: close community centers, the militarized streets in the name of a presumed safety, it cements in the name of that profit has plunged us into this crisis and in this city more and more rich only in solitude and marginalization.

Faced with all this I do not think the answer we can give is to lock ourselves in to a party, much less force to make us a unique and unique model of society, claiming the word communism with strength and forgetting the word PRC.
I believe the answer is that we should give a more courageous the attempt to unite the left, take a step forward towards the establishment of a single large entity that is capable of making culture, and representation at all to return all of us, able to combine people and ideas. For this abandonment

PRC. Because I think the important and beautiful parable of the Communist Refoundation is over. An era has ended and we have to understand it. I'll put my all in the constitution of a Movement for the Left, a movement that will work to build a single, unified political entity of the Left, unable to hold in all, including the Communists, like me, able to speak to everyone, even the communists , especially capable of uniting the Left, and to return the force and dignity essential to create a more just and better society. I offer my best wishes to those who have decided or will decide, legitimately, to continue their way in PRC, because I think it will always be my comrades, my "close to the fence" and especially because I know it will soon be with me in one big house on the left that I'm going to build.

A hug to everyone. Thank you for what you gave me. Do you know where to find me.
